Domaine Etienne Guigal

Guigal: A representation of the Rhône Valley

Founded in the mid 40s by Etienne Guigal, the domain of the same name is now a representation of what its best done in the Rhône Valley. The land on which the Guigal domain is located, has been known for its wine production for the last 24 centuries! In the cellars of this terroir that houses The castle Ampuis, we find Northern and Southern vintages from the Rhône Valley: Its 230 hectares produce famous wines such as the Cote Rotie, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape ou Tavel. The record achieved by the Guidal house leaves no doubt about its popularity: a Côte-Rôtie from 2003, which cost more than 800 dollars has been the most expensive Côte du Rhône in its history.

The production of the Guidal domain is mostly used to make white and red wine. The Côtes du Rhône is the only one available as rosé. But the appellations are not divided evenly: that of Condrieu alone counts with 150 hectares, or more than half the Guidal domain. Let’s notice that there are real treasures in the mentioned range, such as the Doriane, which is produced in a very steep cliff.
