Domaine de la Mordorée
Domaine de la Mordorée, the new astonishing domain
In the Rhone Valley , the Mordorée domain is particularly recent: it dates back to 1986. However, the Mordorée domain already comprises 54 hectares, in an ideal emplacement between Provence and Languedoc. They are represented on five appellations, some of which are very famous: Lirac, Tavel, Condrieu, Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This diversity is thanks to the variety of its grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Marselan… The Mordorée produce 250,000 bottles a year. Its vines have an average age of 40 years.
In their very diverse ranges, many of the Mordorées are perceived as models. This is particularly the case of the rosés, where the Côtes du Rhône are illustrated. Some vintages have gotten the score of 100/100 at Robert Parker: this is the case of La Reine des Bois (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) for its 2001 vintage. We should also mention, the Dame Voyageuse of the same appellation, which is almost entirely done with Grenache or the Plume du Peintre. Be careful though: because even if some cuvées can be found at very affordable prices, we must remember that many of them are also produced in limited edition. Depending on your choice, you can have some difficulties to get one for your table.
